Song of the Day: Yes, “Owner Of A Lonely Heart”

Singer/songwriter, guitarist, and film composer Trevor Rabin turns 67 today. Trevor played guitar with Yes from 1983 to 1995. His first album with them was 1983’s 90125, which contained "Owner Of A Lonely Heart," released in October, a month ahead of the album. The song was written primarily by Rabin, with contributions from Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, and producer Trevor Horn. It reached #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart that year and #1 on the Hot 100 the following year.

  2. One of the few YES songs that I like. The others just seem to drag on and on and on and on… and on.. Makes me wonder if they just didn’t know how to end a song.

    1. I started listening to them in their Rick Wakeman/Steve Howe days, and a lot of their stuff was over the top and not all that interesting. This version of Yes was more to my liking…

  3. I don’t remember seeing this video but I do remember the song. We saw Yes once at the Mountain Winery and the lead singer at the time was Benoit David I believe. He was a twirling dervish on the stage and that’s all I could concentrate on – LOL.

    1. I thought you had transposed jazz pianist David Benoit’s name, but you’re right, Benoit David was their singer from 2008 to 2012. He was the singer for a tribute band called Close to the Edge before working with Yes. I guess he ended up leaving due to ill health…

  4. John,

Great song! Thanks for the info on social media alternatives. I set up a Gab account this morning. It’s slow. I’m not sure if they are getting slammed with new users signing on or what but I hope this works. I will look at MeWe next. I don’t know much about it but Clouthub is similar to YouTube or Twitter. I can’t remember. I’m going to sign up with CH in a few minutes. I did manage to get the app from the Apple store on the off chance they decide to yak that app like they did Parler. Have a great day!
