Only The Beginning… #socs #JusJoJan

The end of this whole Covid-19 affair seems like it’s taking a while to get here, so let’s move along. I’m tired of talking about it.

I’ve decided to give Apple Music and TuneIn Radio another chance. I know, I already have Spotify, but I needed some variety. It’s been a long two weeks to flatten the curve. I’m bored.

Anytime I say "I’m bored," you should start to worry.

Seriously, I’ve been in the house for such a long time, I don’t want to go out. The other day, for our anniversary, we had a family-sized meal from O’Charley’s and had it delivered. Then Mary did some shipping at Whole Foods and had it delivered. We could get used to it. By the way, when you order a family-sized meal from O’Charley’s, they say it feeds six. If you like to eat (and we do), it might be more like three.

Well, I’ve bluffed around enough here. It’s the end of this week, but almost the beginning of next, and I have some blogging to do…

Stream of Consciousness Saturday is brought to you each week by Linda Hill and this station. It’s also January, so this is part of Just Jot It January, too.

And now a word about new king-size Parliament cigarettes with the recessed filter. Priced same as regular!

  1. OMG – that commercial! It used to be so classy to smoke. Like royalty, eh? Congrats on making the meal last enough for some leftovers. Early last summer we stopped at a Food Truck for a takeout meal. It was so delicious and very generous portions. It was the first of the season for them. We tried it a couple of months later, after the pandemic shutdowns and the portions were very skimpy. This whole ordeal is getting old, that’s for sure. You haven’t lost your sense of humor, that’s a plus!

  2. At first I thought Spotify was like Shazam 😂. Sirius XM home edition and Pandora with ads are enough for me. Lots of stations to choose from. Something for everyone as they say.

    1. I’ve looked at Sirius and decided that it wasn’t a good fit for me. Pandora’s pretty good: I used it for a while, and found that they don’t have a particularly deep playlist. Maybe that’s changed. I hope so, it’s a good service.

      1. Sirius was free then to keep us they practically gave it away. When this expires we’re done. Pandora has everything but I have to sign up for quite a few stations to get a deep playlist. And since I won’t go premium the ads can be a deal breaker for some.

        1. The ads can be a real pain. It’s worth the $10 a month not to deal with them. Apple Music and TuneIn (and probably iHeart) had a price of $99 a year, which saves $21 or so a year from month-by-month. Pandora might have a deal like that. You might want to check it out, if you like it…

  3. I was like that in the first 5 months….until I went back to the office I learned to cook homemade onion rings and gained weight…I didn’t know what day it was…I worked from home the whole time but when I could…I went back because I’m secluded where I work. I’m an IT Director with now…no one to Direct…I was over 8 people now I’m the only idiot… some will come back soon I hope…
Anyway I drifted way out there. Love some O’Charleys.

  4. I hope you figure out your musical options.

We ordered a family diner for Thanksgiving. It was supposed to feed four. It worked well for the two of us. It was very good food, and provided a reasonable amount of leftovers, but I don’t think it would have fed four people.

    1. I can get stations from all over the world through TuneIn, even places where I don’t want to (i.e.where they don’t speak English). That can be a real trip… There are other apps that you can use for that. My favorite is Receiver Radio…

      1. I only found out I tried to listen to an Irish station through the speaker. The dumb thing is, I can listen to that station just through the internet and browser. TuneIn say they disabled all except a few foreign stations because of a legal ruling, but it seems pointless when there are other, above-board ways of listening to that station.
I tried to swap the speaker away from using TuneIn but I couldn’t. Presumably that is a UK thing too.

        1. Voice assistants are kind of limited that way. I use Siri primarily to turn the flashlight on and off at night, check the temperature for Mary, or to set timers. I haven’t tried to ask it to play the radio, because it’s easy enough for me to just turn it on and off myself.
