Time for Mary B’s Weekly Song Challenge! She gives us three prompts, we give her one song for each. Easy? Yes! Fun? You betcha!
A spice: Since "Sugar And Spice" by the Cryan’ Shames probably won’t work, how about "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band" by The Beatles?
A tree: Since you’re probably tired of hearing The Manhattan Transfer’s "Poinciana," how about Kenneth McKellar with the beautiful "The Rowan Tree"?
A unit of measure: Rolling Stones, "Heart of Stone" (1 stone=14 lb. or 6.4 kg)
And that’s the Weekly Song Challenge. Time to make like a banana and split!
John,
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band came to mind. I don’t know what a Rowan Tree is but I think I recall seeing the song title and what a clever use for the Stone’s song pick. I had forgotten a stone is a measurement unit. Excellent job!

Thanks! The Blogger’s Best Friend says that the rowan is more of a bush that bears fruit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rowan

I never thought of sgt. Pepper but that is a brilliant choice. I love the second pick…he has a lovely voice. I never knew how much a stone weighed. I like this song by the Stones. Great choices.

“The Rowan Tree” actually sounds quite nice on the bagpipes, but McKellar’s voice is quite pleasing.

Love it! I was only familiar with the Beatles tune. I love this challenge as it’s introducing me to all sorts of new to me artists and tunes.
