Julius Frank Anthony Kuczynski, better known as country singer and accordionist Pee Wee King, would be 107 today. Pee Wee wrote "Slow Poke" with Redd Stewart and Chilton Price in 1951 and recorded it in 1952. Price actually wrote the song, but she felt that putting King’s and Stewart’s name on as co-authors would help it sell better. The song reached #3 on the Billboard Best Sellers chart (the predecessor to the Hot 100) and #1 on the Country chart, and topped the Australian charts.
I have heard this song at some point in my life. I knew parts of it. When and where I have no clue.

I believe he was a member of the Grand Old Opry, so you might have heard him, maybe on a local station or the radio.

I think of this song sometimes when my wife and I have to go someplace, but I know better than to sing it while waiting for her.

The thing in the preamble of the Constitution about “promote domestic tranquility”? Pretty much the same as “don’t piss off the wife”…
