The actress Elizabeth Taylor would be 89 today. In 1965, she was in the movie The Sandpiper with then-husband Richard Burton. "The Shadow of Your Smile" was written by Johnny Mandel with lyrics by Paul Francis Webster and was also known as "Love Theme From The Sandpiper." In 1966, the song won a Grammy for Song of the Year and an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The American Film Institute ranks it at #77 on its list of "100 Years… 100 Songs." This was the title track from Astrud Gilberto’s 1965 album.
Love this song! Excellent choice, John!

I think of Mom, who always said she was born between Liz Taylor and Debbie Reynolds (whose birthday is April 1); her birthday was March 26, the day after mine…
