Song of the Day: Gary Lewis & The Playboys, “Count Me In”

Comedian Jerry Lewis, who did a lot for children suffering from muscular dystrophy by holding a successful telethon for many years on Labor Day, would be 95 years old today. Here’s a song by his son Gary, who had a few hits as the front man for Gary Lewis & The Playboys during the 1960’s. "Count Me In" was the follow-up to their 1965 #1 hit "This Diamond Ring." The song was written by Glen Hardin and reached #2 on the Hot 100, #6 in Canada, and #49 in Australia in 1965.

  1. Loved the song and the group. They were one of my favorite groups when I was in junior high and for me their music still holds up well.

  2. I had no clue that he was Jerry Lewis’s son. I don’t know this song but I feel I have heard it before. It’s a fun song that is uplifting.
