Mary gives us the prompts, we give her the songs. Such as:
A Song Parody: Allan Sherman, a George M. Cohan medley from 1963’s My Son, The Celebrity, with "Barry Is The Baby’s Name" ("Mary"), "Horowitz" ("Harrigan"), and "Get On The Garden Freeway" ("Give My Regards To Broadway").
A Song written for a girl: Oliver, "Jean." Written by Rod McKuen for the 1969 film The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie.
A Planet: Paul McCartney & Wings, "Venus And Mars." The person who made this video took the song and its reprise and did a fine job of sticking them together.
Play along, if you’d like. Color me gone…
Haven’t heard any of these before. Particularly loved the flute in Venus and Mars.

The parody was funny. I know I heard Jean before but don’t remember it. I never heard Venus and Mars before but I like it.

Excellent choices this week! Hadn’t heard this in forever, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard the parody before.

Glad you enjoyed my picks! I was a huge Allan Sherman fan before the Beatles. (I was what, seven?)

John,
“Jean” is a song I haven’t heard in a long time. Either I didn’t know or just forgot that Oliver did this song. Nice picks for this week’s challenge. 🙂 Come over when you can to sample my WSC picks. Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

Around the time “Jean” was popular, I was developing an interest in a girl named Jeanne, so you can probably imagine it’s kind of a special song.
