While I was having my leg pumped today, I was listening to a Spotify playlist, and one of the songs sounded too familiar: Charles Earland’s cover of a Chicago song from the 1971 album Chicago III. It’s a kind of instrumental: but for Terry Kath, Peter Cetera, and Robert Lamm singing "la la la," the music is the important thing. The second half is a flute solo by Walter Parazaider, who’s retired now. I got the album as a gift for my 15th birthday, and as I approach the 50th anniversary of that event, the song sounds as good now as when I first heard it. From 1971, "Happy ‘Cause I’m Going Home."
