Happy 80th birthday to Jeremy Clyde, one-half of the ’60’s singing duo Chad & Jeremy. His mother is Lady Elizabeth Wellesley, and his great-great-great-grandfather is Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington (he’s cousin to the current Duke). "Willow Weep For Me" was on their first album, 1964’s Yesterday’s Gone. It reached #1 on the Easy Listening chart in the US, #15 on the Hot 100, and #13 on the Canadian Singles chart.
I never heard of them but this is a nice ballad. He has quite the lineage and a happy 80th to this man.

They were popular toward the beginning of the British Invasion around 1964.

Man, I had forgotten about Chad and Jeremy. You sure have a knack for bringing me back to another place and time. I had to pop over to YouTube and listen to “A Summer Song”. Nice post, John.

I enjoyed their music. They were kind of in a league of their own.

Hi, John!
Happy 80th birthday to Jeremy Clyde, half of the popular English duo Chad & Jeremy. Thanks for sharing the trivia about Jeremy’s royal ancestry. I well remember “Willow Weep.” At the time, with their mellow folk and soft pop style and hushed vocals, Chad & Jeremy were overshadowed by more flashy, charismatic English pop combos and their up tempo recordings. I think their music has survived the test of time. It still seems fresh to my ears today.
Thanks, good buddy John, and have a wonderful week!
