Song of the Day: Chad & Jeremy, “Willow Weep For Me”

Happy 80th birthday to Jeremy Clyde, one-half of the ’60’s singing duo Chad & Jeremy. His mother is Lady Elizabeth Wellesley, and his great-great-great-grandfather is Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington (he’s cousin to the current Duke). "Willow Weep For Me" was on their first album, 1964’s Yesterday’s Gone. It reached #1 on the Easy Listening chart in the US, #15 on the Hot 100, and #13 on the Canadian Singles chart.

  1. Man, I had forgotten about Chad and Jeremy. You sure have a knack for bringing me back to another place and time. I had to pop over to YouTube and listen to “A Summer Song”. Nice post, John.

  2. Hi, John!

Happy 80th birthday to Jeremy Clyde, half of the popular English duo Chad & Jeremy. Thanks for sharing the trivia about Jeremy’s royal ancestry. I well remember “Willow Weep.” At the time, with their mellow folk and soft pop style and hushed vocals, Chad & Jeremy were overshadowed by more flashy, charismatic English pop combos and their up tempo recordings. I think their music has survived the test of time. It still seems fresh to my ears today.

Thanks, good buddy John, and have a wonderful week!
