Song of the Day: Rufus Thomas, “Do The Funky Chicken”

Happy heavenly 104th to singer, songwriter, dancer, comedian, disc jockey, and altogether cool guy Rufus Thomas. Rufus is best known for his dance songs such as "Walking The Dog," "Willy Nilly," and of course, "Do The Funky Chicken," which he released in 1969 and which reached #28 on the Hot 100, #5 on the R&B chart, and #18 in the UK. Here he is from Wattstax in 1972.

      1. That is great and YES…that bull…I remember these commercials. Wow, I had forgotten all about the whole line of commercials. You cannot forget that outfit.

    1. Something about seeing an elderly Black man in a pink outfit (with a cape) and knee-high white boots makes you sit up and take notice, doesn’t it? 🤣
