Happy heavenly 104th to singer, songwriter, dancer, comedian, disc jockey, and altogether cool guy Rufus Thomas. Rufus is best known for his dance songs such as "Walking The Dog," "Willy Nilly," and of course, "Do The Funky Chicken," which he released in 1969 and which reached #28 on the Hot 100, #5 on the R&B chart, and #18 in the UK. Here he is from Wattstax in 1972.
Fun song…I heard this as a kid and we would repeat the name.

That is great and YES…that bull…I remember these commercials. Wow, I had forgotten all about the whole line of commercials. You cannot forget that outfit.

I don’t know how many could actually do the funky chicken, but they were sure having fun and he didn’t seem to mind.

I’m not familiar with the Funky Chicken. I, however, know all about the Chicken Dance.

Something about seeing an elderly Black man in a pink outfit (with a cape) and knee-high white boots makes you sit up and take notice, doesn’t it? 🤣
