You know me: I don’t watch a lot of TV anymore, and when I do it’s generally one of the old sitcoms that are nightly fare on MeTV, or Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! on our local NBC affiliate, or Columbo on Saturday nights on COZI TV. At the beginning of May, MeTV began running this at 6 PM…
I was 8 years old when The Addams Family first aired, and I thought it was funny then. It’s funnier now, because I understand the jokes. It hasn’t shown as often in syndication as The Munsters, another horror-based sitcom created around the same time. I can’t understand why: I thought both were funny. Maybe it was how they were funny: The Munsters were monsters that behaved like normal people, while The Addams Family were normal-looking people who behaved like monsters. Needless to say, The Munsters has been more successful in syndication, so there have been more chances to see that show, so maybe it’s the relative newness of The Addams Family that’s appealing.
Whatever the reason, it’s great to see a show I haven’t seen much in the last 50 years.

I was so busy this day and away from all computers Friday, never mind about Saturday but here I am Sunday…which I always miss(um..as well as Saturday often). Anyhoo, I love both Monster shows but I always lean more to The Munsters and I would love to have their movie! This is a great opening that everyone knows. Who knew Uncle fester was such a cute kid once and married to Betty Grable. I think John Astin(Gomez) and the gal who plays Wednesday(Lisa Loring) are the only ones left. I just realized that, in German, her names is Wohnstag(pronounced Voens-taag).

I always thought Wednesday was Mittwoch… when I delivered newspapers, one person took the Abendpost (on Saturday, the Sonntagpost), so I learned the days of the week…

Enjoyed both shows but what I most recall…the Adams homestead was so much neater, at least devoid of cobwebs everywhere. The one “neat” room in the Munster house was Marilyn’s.
Oddly enough, both families were caring and loving…in their own monstrous ways!

It’s on at 6 on MeTV, if you want to watch it. If you watch over the air, it’s channel 69.4…

I’ll look for it. We don’t have cable and use Roku.

I think you can set up Locast on Roku and get the local stations. It’s $70 a year if you don’t want to put up with lots of commercials from Locast telling you that for $70 a year you can avoid them. Another thought is to get an antenna with an amplifier. It’s like a sheet of plastic with a coaxial cable attached. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SBY59HZ/) You can get most of the local channels that way. Just in case you want to….

I watch this show…I have both seasons and I love the way they wrote this show and edited it…it’s fast moving. No one beats Gomez…one of the best TV marriages.

Charles Addams was a genius, and the people who wrote the show knew just what they were doing.

Yes they added to the legacy which wasn’t always the case with tv shows…

Great, isn’t it? Vic Mizzy wrote it and the one for “Green Acres.”
