Remember when hotels, and especially motels, used to leave postcards in your room for you to send to your friends and show them what luxurious surroundings you were enjoying while on vacation? They always seemed to include a shot of the pool. Did you ever look really close at them and discover it wasn’t a photograph, but a very realistic drawing of the place?
I don’t do a whole lot with LiveJournal anymore, but I still have an account and I follow the Vintage Ads group (from whence the picture above was obtained). It’s really interesting that, until about the 1960’s, ads generally didn’t use photographs, but were drawn by commercial artists and were actually works of art. Seriously.
All for today…

Stream of Consciousness Saturday is brought to you each week by Linda Hill and this station. Now here’s Mr. Magoo with a word about Stag Beer’s "Name Mr. Magoo’s Car" contest!
I know we just did Stag the other day, but Mr. Magoo…
Ah, yes, I remember those postcards – such wonderful talent. I don’t remember Snag beer, but Mr. Magoo – yes, he was fun to watch. Thanks for the grins this morning! I hope you and Mary are doing well.

You have to hand it to the artists that did all of that. They really did some fantastic work.
