Happy birthday to guitarist extraordinaire Jeff Beck, who turns 77 today. Originally a member of The Yardbirds, Jeff has fronted several incarnations of The Jeff Beck Group and has played solo for close to 40 years. "Goodbye, Pork Pie Hat" was written in 1959 by Charles Mingus as a tribute to Lester Young. Beck played it on his 1976 album Wired.
I saw Jeff Beck live many, many moons ago in a local dance hall, I lived in London at the time. Ace! 💜

Must have been fantastic. I’ve never seen him, but I’m more than familiar with his music…

We tend to think of them as being the age they were when we first saw them. Makes for some startling moments later…

I like it…of course it’s Jeff Beck…but when I think of Pork Pie Hat…I think of one person. Buster Keaton who was famous for wearing one.

He wore one in the movie “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.”
