Song of the Day: Ed Ames, “My Cup Runneth Over”

Singer, actor, and tomahawk expert Ed Ames was born on this day in 1927. He had a hit record in 1967 with "My Cup Runneth Over," written by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones for the Broadway musical I Do! I Do! The song reached #8 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #9 in Canada.

  1. I got distracted from his singing by his mouth movements. Especially when he holds a long note…


    1. I think he’s doing circular breathing so he can hold the notes, and it makes him contort his lips like that. I know, it looks weird.


      1. Oh, really? His mouth looks very different to Indigenous Australians when they play the didgeridoo (they use circular breathing to play).
