Happy 90th birthday to tenor saxophonist Plas Johnson. His most famous work was with Henry Mancini, when he played the saxophone solo on "The Pink Panther Theme." He’s also worked with Chet Baker, Marvin Gaye, Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, Johnny Rivers, Ry Cooder, and others. "One Mint Julep" appeared on his 1960 alum Mood For The Blues.
All I can think of is “cool”. He seems to epitomise cool. Very funky with me wishing I was sitting beside a fire in a sunken living space, chatting about life with friends.

It has that sort of Martinis and Benson & Hedges cigarettes feel to it, doesn’t it?

My brother was a tenor saxophonist – reminds me of when we were teenagers growing up.
