I knew there was something I was forgetting… Mary B tells us what she wants, and we try and give it to her.

A Song with a Month in the title: Leonid & Friends, "September" (a superb cover of the Earth Wind & Fire song)

A Song with a Day of the Week in the title: The Sandpipers, "Come Saturday Morning"

A Song with a Unit of Measure in the title: Howlin’ Wolf, "Spoonful"

Tally-ho and away we go!
See you next week with a brand new show!

  1. I love Leonid & Friends who do such amazing covers of very famous songs and so them justice. I have never heard of the 2nd choice and I have not seen the movie yet. It does have a ring of 1960s love story movie ring to it. Love the Blues and this 3rd song is so much fun to listen to.

    1. “Come Saturday Morning” was from the movie “The Sterile Cuckoo,” which was a ’60’s love story movie, as it happens. Glad you liked the picks!

    1. They started out doing covers of Chicago songs, then they added “September” and “Vehicle.” Their cover of the latter was so good Jim Peterik, who wrote the song and still plays it with The Ides of March, left a comment on the video, saying how much he liked it. They did an original piece recently called “A Speck of Dust” that is just mind-boggling. I still can’t figure why Ksenia, the woman who sings with them, isn’t an international star. When I first heard them, all I could think was “they sound more like Chicago than Chicago!”

      1. Yes they do! Pretty soon John there will be only Tribute bands. Many travel around now and give you a better show than the real things.

        1. I see where they’ve also done a couple of Steely Dan covers and EW&F’s “Got To Get You Into My Life.” You’re right: The people that did the originals are in their 70’s (Ringo just turned 81!) and are either retired or deceased. All the originals in Blood Sweat & Tears are gone, same with The Guess Who, more than half of Chicago, most of The Temptations, Four Tops, O’Jays… In more than a few cases, the tribute band IS the band.

          1. Oh I see now they have a Tom Petty, Stones, Who, and the list is just growing. They must make pretty good money or they wouldn’t do it.

    1. Oddly, temperature-wise it’s been comfortable here. but then I haven’t been out of the house since the end of May.. I was going for another song and saw “Come Saturday Morning,” and like you I hadn’t heard it in a while, so I added that one. Glad you liked it!
