Actress, comedienne, model, and studio executive Lucille Ball was born on August 6, 1911. I Love Lucy, on which she and then-husband Desi Arnaz starred, has been in constant reruns since it first ran in the ’50’s. They say that, at any given time, I Love Lucy is running somewhere in the world. Desi Arnaz released his vocal version of the show’s theme in 1953. It was written by Eliot Daniel with lyrics by Harold Adamson.
My mom who was also a red head, loved Lucy, too.

Mom bore somewhat of a resemblance to her and had the same two-packs-of-Chesterfields a day voice, so I think of her when I see Lucy.

I just love this show and Lucy. It is timeless and so well done. That episode always makes me teary when he finds out she is …shall I say it….pregnant.

Doesn’t Desi break into a song “we’re having a baby”?

I’m sure there are people in the world who didn’t love the show, but I don’t know any of them. Mom talked about watching it while she was pregnant with me; they were re-running the episode whre Lucy had little Ricky, and she said she and Dad laughed themselves sick. Classic stuff…
