Blues guitarist and singer Luther Allison was born on this day in 1939. He moved to Chicago when he was 12 and by ther time he was 18 he was playing with Howlin’ Wolf’s band. This performance of Elmore James’s "It Hurts Me Too" was filmed at the 1997 Montreal International Jazz Festival not long before he died, five days shy of his 58th birthday.

    1. I never got a chance to see him – he was living in France during the ’70’s. I remembered he was a great player ffrom the records, and now that there’s all the videos I finally have a chance…
