Reggae and pop singer Johnny Nash was born on this day in 1940. Before releasing his 1972 hit record "I Can See Clearly Now," he sang the theme song for the cartoon The Mighty Hercules, and had a hit with 1968’s "Hold Me Tight", which reached #5 in the US. "I Can See Clearly Now" reached #1 in the US and Canada and earned a Gold record.
This is a song that I never get tired of….ever. Whatever mood I’m in…this can lift me.

I used to love this song and always loved hearing it when I felt I’d gotten direction and focus in my life–synchronistically. Now I wonder if I’ll ever “see clearly now” again.

I think the trick is to just keep telling yourself you do. Eventually you believe it or by that time things change for the better. Or so I’ve been told….

Another one that received a lot airplay the year I graduated. Always liked the lyrics.

Beautiful song. Although the lyrics are simple, I don’t think I ever really knew what they were until listening to it now.

That’s the difference between “hearing” and “listening.” I’ve been there many times…

Thanks John – I knew the song … but not the man – so I enjoyed reading up on him. I enjoyed listening to it again – cheers Hilary
