Dancer, singer, and actor Donald O’Connor was born on this day in 1925. Maybe his best-known work was done in the 1952 movie Singin’ In The Rain with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds. His take on the song "Make ‘Em Laugh" is one of the highlights of the movie and showed his talent as a singer, dancer, and physical comedian.
One of my absolute favourite movies. Love it! And I do agree that no one dances like that anymore – I’d love for someone to make a musical taking that classic style again.

It’s one of our favorite movies, not just for the singing and dancing, but the funny stuff as well. Jean Hagen was brilliant.

Oh what a CLASSIC! I love that! From “Singin’ In The Rain!” Mr. O’Connor could also dance and act, and yes, he had one of those really mobile faces that add to the physical humor he did. Thanks, John! Great Share!

Remember this?
No one dances like that anymore… Not that anyone could dance like Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor, or for that matter Fred Astaire, Sammy Davis Sr. and Jr., the Nicholas Brothers, James Cagney, Buddy Ebsen, Ginger Rodgers, Eleanor Powell, Rita Hayworth, Cyd Charisse, Dorothy Dandridge, Ann Miller etc. etc. anyway, but literally no one dances like that anymore. It’s like a dying art….
