The lovely Peggy Middleton, better known as actress, singer, and dancer Yvonne DeCarlo, was born on this day in 1922. Probably best-known for her portrayal of Lily Munster on the popular 1964-66 horror sitcom The Munsters, she received her first contract with Paramount Pictures in 1942 and starred in the 1945 film Salome, Where She Danced. Her best-known film role was as Sephora, the wife of Moses, in the Cecil B. DeMille 1956 epic The Ten Commandments. Here is a version of "The Munsters Theme," complete with lyrics.

  4. I didn’t know the Munsters theme had words. Somehow this version comes off as just as pseudo-creepy as the show itself.

    I enjoyed the show, although not as much as The Addams Family. (I so wanted to add a Gomez touch to my train layout.)

    1. I’ve been watching The Addams Family on MeTV at 6. They were both funny, and I have a hard tiume choosing between the two: The Munsters was about a family of monsters who acted like normal people, and The Addams Family was about a family of normal-looking people who acted like monsters. Both are hilarious….

    The Munsters was a fun TV show. I watched it frequently as a kid. I had forgotten Yvvone played Charlton Heston’s wife in The Ten Commandments. I always liked watching that as it aired around Easter every year when I was little. or at least that’s the way I remember it. I might be wrong. OH well, anyhow…will there be a BOTB later today?
