Monday’s Music Moves Me: “Time Peace: The Rascals’ Greatest Hits”

Source: Amazon.com

Cathy had the idea of posting an entire album for today’s 4M, and I thought that was a great idea. Max and I have been talking about The Rascals (formerly The Young Rascals) over on his blog, and how they were really a band that needed to be remembered more. Their hits, like "Good Loving," "How Can I Be Sure," and "Beautiful Morning," were consistemtly in the Top 10 in the US and Canada, but they did so much music worth listening to besides. Without further ado, here is their #1 1968 album Time Peace: The Rascals’ Greatest Hits, presented without commercial interruption…

Track list (with chart positions where available):

  1. I Ain’t Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore
  2. Good Lovin’ (#1 US/Canada, 1966)
  3. You Better Run
  4. Come On Up
  5. Mustang Sally
  6. Love Is A Beautiful Thing
  7. In The Midnight Hour
  8. I’ve Been Lonely Too Long (#16 US, #7 Canada, 1967)
  9. Groovin’ (#1 US/Canada, #8 UK, #3 Australia, 1967)
  10. A Girl Like You (#10 US, #1 Canada, 1967)
  11. How Can I Be Sure (#4 US, #1 Canada, 1967)
  12. It’s Wonderful (#7 Canada, 1967)
  13. Easy Rollin’
  14. A Beautiful Morning (#3 US, #1 Canada, 1968)

And that’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for September 6, 2021.

  1. John,

I can’t remember who was now but someone used a song by The Young Rascals in his/her daily music lineup. I’m glad to have the chance to hear an entire album by the band. I love long playlists to listen to while I do other things in the mornings or anytime so this was excellent and I’m glad you felt inspired to do so after visiting me yesterday. Thanks for sharing and hitting the 4M dance floor. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  2. Nice listening to the hit songs again. I never knew that You Better Run was original to The Rascals until listening to your playlist and that Pat Benatar’s hit was a cover.

  3. Oh, great album for me to listen to in the studio today before the Giant’s game! Thanks for sharing the whole thing. Side note — we saw Chicago at the Mountain Winery last night and they were good! Much better than the last time we saw them. Must be the new singer they got a couple years ago.

      1. Much closer. It was a pretty decent show actually. They came out 2 minutes early, played for an hour, took a 20 minute break and then played for another hour. They certainly have enough songs to fill that time!
