James Milton Campbell, better known as blues singer and guitarist Little Milton, was born on this day in 1934. He was originally discovered by Ike Turner, who signed him to Sun Records. "Grits Ain’t Groceries" was originally titled "All Around The World" when written by Titus Turner for Little Willie John in 1955. Milton took it to #5 on the R&B chart and #73 on the Hot 100 in 1969.
Enjoyed the song!

In a book I just read I saw this line “Grits ain’t groceries and revenge don’t pay the bills”. Never heard the expression before and never thought I would see grits ain’t groceries again. Cool song too. Really enjoyed it.

Great! Little Milton had a great sound, but didn’t make the trips to the North Side like some of the other blues men.
