Actress and singer Janis Paige, one of the last remaining stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood, was born 99 years ago today. She built an impressive resumé of appearances on the stage, in movies, and on television. She retired in 2001 due to nearly-irreparable damage to her vocal folds, but has been able to regain her speaking and singing voice. She costarred in the 1957 movie Silk Stockings with Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse, which was a musical remake of the 1939 film Ninotchka starring Greta Garbo and Melvyn Douglas. Here she sings "Satin And Silk" to Wim Sonneveld.
I have to say this song reminded me of my mom. She loved musicals… you know Debbie Reynolds, Gene Kelly, song and dance yep that was my mom. Thanks for posting my friend. Have a great day!
