Song of the Day: Gene Autry, “Back In The Saddle Again”

"The Singing Cowboy," Gene Autry, was born on this day in 1907. He sang in films, radio, and television starting in the 1930’s, and ended up owning a string of television stations and was the owner of the California Angels in the ’60’s and ’70’s. This is the original recording of "Back In The Saddle Again," mistakenly called "Back To The Saddle Again" on the record label, from 1939.

    1. Those 78 rpm records are like a piece of history now, and a fragile piece to boot. The record companies went through and digitized all of them to preserve the music that was on them, thank heaven. It’s good to hear old Gene singing as though it was a hundred years ago…
