Melanie’s asking questions again…

How do you feel about sharing your computer or phone password with your partner? We do it all the time.

What is the greatest struggle you’ve overcome? Coming back from my stroke.

If heaven is real and you died tomorrow, do you think you would get in? Why or why not? A little background: I’m Catholic, and one of the many things believe in is the First Friday Devotion. This was a promise that Jesus, who appeared to St. Margaret Mary in a dream, made, that if a person were to go to Mass and receive the Eucharist on nine consecutive First Fridays, would receive, in His words, "the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour." The good Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus who ran St. Ignatius School saw to it that we made the nine First Fridays. So, I’m in…

What makes you feel like you really need to be alone? Being tired or having had a bad day. A friend of mine once said that when things are going wrong for him, he goes to bed and gets some rest. Everything looks better after a few hours of sleep.

Do you have any traditions around this time of year? Mary and I are really not ones for tradition. The only thing that comes close is that we have pizza rolls for dinner on New Year’s Eve.

And with that…

  1. Thank you John for Sharing Your World! Recovering from a stroke IS an amazing feat! I’m really glad you did too, because who else would keep me in stitches with all the cute memes and clips? Plus the music trivia! Your knowledge is vast, Obi One. 🙏🏻 I love your traditional New Year’s treat…no fuss, no muss and no big clean up afterward. What a great way to start the year! :-D And OF COURSE you’re getting ‘in’! You’re far too nice to be turned away! Plus that whole church attendance thing deserves recognition! ;) Have a fabulous week!

  2. I’m an early riser and most of the time, early to bed. I feel renewed after a good night’s sleep. Hubby and I have a few traditions left. We like a big turkey meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    1. Last year Mary did a turkey breast in the Instant Pot for Thanksgiving. I forget what we did for Christmas. We get the pre-made sides (mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese etc.) from the store and cook them in the microwave. Other years, we have ribs…

  3. Great answers, John, Things do look better after getting some rest. I did a series of small repairs and replaced the bathroom floor in a convent. I’m hoping that helps carry the day.

    1. They’re a lot different. They’re bite-sized pastry pockets with pizza ingredients (sausage, pepperoni, cheese, tomato sauce, etc) stuffed inside. They’re a mite tasty, as we say…

  4. I am sharing the computer with my hubby but not my IPad or phone.. He did things to our old laptop that defies description. It took my ex 6 hours to reinstall everything because, somehow, my hubby deleted everything. When I am having a bad day or, simply, feel the need to be on my own, I love to escape to my craft room. I hope i will go to heaven even though I don’t attend church unless it is a wedding or a death. This is man made stuff. That being said, I think I see some fires down below :) What obstacles have I overcome? Which ones? The best I can say is yes. Remain strong which includes a tear or 5. Listen to your own breath, know beauty outweighs the ugly. Christmas is when I have traditions from hanging up the Advent wreath from the ceiling to my tree hung with pretty tinsel. I would decorate for Thanksgiving which is this weekend for Canadians but I am not doing much this time.

  5. I’ve always enjoyed having alone time. This past weekend I was home alone from Fri noon until Monday 10 Am. It was restful and utterly divine.
