
Hamish Stuart, former guitarist and bassist for the Average White Band who also worked with Chaka Khan, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Aretha Franklin, David Sanborn and others, was born on this day in 1949. He also wrote songs for Atlantic Starr, Smokey Robinson, Jeffrey Osborne, George Benson, and Diana Ross. "Pick Up The Pieces" was released in 1974 from Average White Band’s album AWB. It reached #1 i the US, #4 in Canada, #6 in the UK, and #38 in Australia.
