David Edward Sutch, also known as Screaming Lord Sutch, was born on this day in 1940. He was best known for his horror-themed stage show in the 1960’s, as demonstrated by this performance of "Jack The Ripper," a song written and first done by Clarence Stacy in 1961. When Sutch’s cover came out in 1963, it was immediately banned by the BBC.
I read about him in some Beatle books. I read where he would start a concert by coming out of a coffin.

He was almost an early Alice Cooper or Ozzy Osbourne.

Yes I agree. It’s the first shock rock I ever heard of.

What a strange, strange song and get up that the lead is doing. Quite unique.

Kind of an early Alice Cooper. I’m pretty sure they ripped off the song “Alley Oop.”
