Song of the Day: Keith Richards, “Hate It When You Leave”

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, by some miracle, is 78 years old today. He’s been with the Stones for at least 60 years, cowriting many of their hits with Mick Jagger, and has also worked as a solo artist with his band, the X-Pensive Winos, since at least the 1970’s. He issued a song last October, "Hate It When You Leave" is from Keith’s 1992 studio album Main Offender.

  1. Hi John – he is extraordinary isn’t he … talented, intelligent and obviously wise over time! Cheers Hilary

  2. I always liked Keith…he is one rock star I would like to meet…He seems to know his body and what it can or cannot take…or he is one of the luckiest people in the world.

      1. Yep…his book was fantastic. He said he only did the top grade drugs…no stuff you got off the street for the most part…as dumb as it seems…that would make a differenc.e

What surprised me was his friendship with Lennon…Both alpha males…but they got along great.

          1. Oh yes….the Dirty Mac…that was a lot of fun. I’ve got that DVD and The Who and this are my favorite performances.

  3. It’s a miracle Keith is still alive and has enough unfried brain to still be writing and performing. That said he is so talented . The BBC, BBC 2 made a documentary on his life,
