Song of the Day: Doctor Hook & The Medicine Show, “Cover of Rolling Stone”

Founder and publisher of Rolling Stone magazine Jann Wenner turns 75 today. Rolling Stone has been the leading magazine in terms of popular music since 1967 and also covers pop culture and politics. Getting on the cover of Rolling Stone has long been the objective of many rock bands, and in 1972 the band Doctor Hook & The Medicine Show recorded "Cover Of Rolling Stone," a song by Shel Silverstein. The song reached #6 in the US and #2 in Canada and earned the band a caricature on the cover under the legend "What’s Their Names Make The Cover."

  1. This is a great song and I remember buying an album for my brother but I don’t know if this song was on it. I know he owns more than one from them.
