Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, who played drums for Muddy Waters in the ’60’s and ’70’s, was born on this day in 1936. He and several members of Muddy’s band (harmonicist Jerry Portnoy, bassist Calvin Jones, pianist "Pinetop" Perkins) left to form the Legendary Blues Band in 1980. "Smokin’ The Joint" was from his 2000 album Blues From The Heart.
Yeh! Excellent to listen to.

I just love the ole style of blues with the harmonica. This was great to listen to.

Glad you liked it. I saw the guy playing the harmonica, Jerry Portnoy, when he just started with Muddy Waters. He was really incredible. I think he learned by listening to Little Walter, because he sounded just like him.
