#bloganuary: The Stars At Night Are Big And Bright…

From Automattic headquarters in the City By The Bay, today’s prompt (and the last if Bloganuary 2022): How do you feel when you look at the stars?

Not a bad question. particularly when compared to yesterday’s…

I think about what I learned way back when, when I was told that all the stars had planets revolving around them, and I wonder if any of those planets are inhabited and, if so, by what? Of course, way back then we were taught that this is quite literally the only planet in the entire universe that’s inhabited. I’m not even sure that all the planets in this solar system are uninhabited, let alone planets in other solar systems in the universe.

Then I start to think that maybe the universe isn’t infinite, and there are more universes out there, possibly paralleling this one, possibly at different points in our existence. There might be a different universe with an earthlike place where exact duplicates of ourselves go about their daily lives much like we do. Maybe it’s an issue where we’re the same people with one major difference: a different race, different sex, different location, different intellectual ability, etc. Then I think that when we’re relocated after we die, there’s a guy standing next to a bunch of wheels of fortune, and we all get a chance to spin the wheels and that’s where we end up.

Then I think I’m crazy and go to bed.

It’s been real, it’s been fun, but it hasn’t been real fun. See you in the funny papers!

  1. Still not wanting to be a tree? :)) To me the stars are just a dream to look at. Funny, each person can look at the stars and think of things so differently. We can go the scientific route, the fantasy, the romantic, astrology, sci-fi…amazing. I don’t think we are the only ones in the entire universe but I don’t know if they came to visit us yet. They may have seen us and just shook their heads in dismay and kept on driving past.
