Today the prompt is "A Love Song, that isn’t a Love Song, but you think it’s a Love Song." To my mind, "Kentucky Rain" fills the bill. It was written by Eddie Rabbitt and Dick Heard and released in January 1970 by Elvis Presley. Then-session pianist Ronnie Milsap plays on this. The song reached #16 on the Hot 100, #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and #31 on the Country chart in the US, #10 on the Top 100, #4 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and #1 on the Country chart in Canada, #21 in the UK, and #7 in Australia.

Loved this when it came out John. Good choice

This was from 1970, around the time that he was taking his music in a different direction. I think it’s my favorite song by him.

I haven’t heard this one in a long time…I had no idea about Milsap playing on the song.
