
Mike Pender, guitarist and vovcalist for the 1960’s Merseybeat band The Searchers, was born on this day in 1941. He provided the lead vocal on "Needles and Pins," which reached #13 on the Hot 100 and #1 in the UK in early 1964. The song was written by Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono and originally recorded by Jackie DeShannon.
