Song of the Day: The Searchers, “Needles And Pins”

Mike Pender, guitarist and vovcalist for the 1960’s Merseybeat band The Searchers, was born on this day in 1941. He provided the lead vocal on "Needles and Pins," which reached #13 on the Hot 100 and #1 in the UK in early 1964. The song was written by Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono and originally recorded by Jackie DeShannon.

    1. I agree. They did a few great songs. I never realized that they were the original band who did “Sugar And Spice”; being from Chicago, I thought The Cryan Shames did it first…
