Blues guitarist/harmonicist/singer/songwriter J. B. Lenoir (pronounced "le-NORR") was born on this day in 1929. "J. B." was his given name, not his initials. He was active in Chicago during the 1950’s and 1960’s, and died in 1967 from injuries sustained in a car accident a couple of week earlier. "Alabama Blues" is off his album Alabama Blues: Rare and Intimate Recordings.
It gets no better than this…I love this music

I used to listen to music like this by the hour. I and another guy used to do this kind of music: he played guitar and slide guitar, I played guitar and harmonica. Great stuff…

Love this! I always liked blues in all it forms. It’s a shame he died young like this. It’s always a shame.

I’ve posted a clip several times of Big Mama Thornton leading a harmonica jam with four other blues guys, and J. B. is one of them.
