On this day in 1971, at the 13th Grammy Awards, Simon & Garfunkel took the Grammys for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and the album of the same name took the Grammy for Album of the Year. We guys didn’t especially like the song, but liked that it was a slow dance…
Hi John – I’ve always loved this song and others of theirs. The title is a necessary one for today – bridging troubled waters to find peace – I sure hope so … PS I’m not sure of the lyrics – so possibly not a great analogy! Cheers Hilary

It’s more of a love song, but I think the lyrics could be read to include peace in the world. Judge for yourself: https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/simongarfunkel/bridgeovertroubledwater.html

It’s up there with the best. I always considered this one and Let It Be…excellent….love the gospel feel.

I love these 2 even though they never really got along. They were a great singing team and harmonized so well. I do love their music.

Right, they were best friends that hated each others guts. I think it’s a city thing…

Can’t argue that it was a great album. Not to my taste, maybe, but still a great album.

I’ve always liked this one. I remember Mum and Dad having the vinyl when I was growing up.

S&G were huge in the late ’60’s, and I think half the world owned that album. I wasn’t a big fan, but it was memorable.
