Singer, songwriter, and minister Al Green turns 76 today. He had a string of soul hits in the 1970’s, including 1971’s "Let’s Stay Together," his signature song. It topped the Hot 100 and the R&B charts in the US and reached #14 in Canada and #7 in the UK.
I could listen to him sing anything…great song

I have his greatest hits album, and it’s great music to lie back and listen to.

Bad ass song. Tina’s version is good, too.

Never heard hers, but Reverend Al’s version is just sublime.

It was done in 1983 and, of course, the video reflects that:

I’ll say it reflects the time… Something about the way Reverend Al does it seems so much more appropriate. She does have a fine voice, though.

One of my favorites from him 🙂 I used to drive my kids nuts singing this song!

I think it’s a beauty. One of the best love songs ever written.

Absolutely. It’s one of those songs that make you forget all of the bad things that happened in his life. Love is so healing.
