MMMM: Pet (?) Songs

So this month’s guest conductor, Alana, says "In honor of Pet Owners Independence Day, let’s use songs with these in the title or band name  dogs, cats, birds, or pets in general." Fair enough. Here are ten. Some may be a little borderline…

  1. Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, "I’m The Urban Spaceman"
  2. Bent Fabric, "Alley Cat"
  3. Crazy Elephant, "Gimme Gimme Good Lovin’"
  4. The Trashmen, "Surfin’ Bird"
  5. Henry Mancini, "baby Elephant Walk"
  6. Allan Sherman, "The Bronx Bird Watcher"
  7. Big Mama Thornton, "You Ain’t Nothin’ But A Hound Dog"
  8. Al Wilson, "The Snake"
  9. The Beatles, "Rocky Raccoon"
  10. Stray Cats, "Rock This Town"

And that’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for April 18, 2022.

Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

  1. John,

Just to let you know Big Mama Thornton, “You Ain’t Nothin’ But A Hound Dog” isn’t working. The rest of your playlist however is fantastic. Thanks for making time to stop by the dance floor this week, my friend. Have a boogietastic day!

  2. All excellent choices including some songs I haven’t heard in years, including Allan Sherman and Crazy Elephant. It was a nice throwback seeing all those go-go dancers in the latter’s video. Another fun thing: I never knew until recently that “The Bronx Bird Watcher” was based on a song from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, which added to this Bronx gal’s enjoyment of your set. Have a good rest of the week, John! Alana ramblinwitham

  3. So much fun to listen to especially the elephant walk from Hatari. I have heavy heart as our cat, Lucy, died yesterday. It was so sad. I shall miss her.
