Song of the Day: Virginia O’Brien, “Rock A Bye Baby”

Singer, actress, and radio personality Virginia O’Brien was born on this day in 1927. She performed in a number of movies for MGM in the 1940’s. Her trademark was her deadpan look and practically motionless performance, said to have been caused by having a massive case of stage fright during a performance that the audience thought was a joke. "Rock A Bye Baby" is from the 1941 Marx Brothers comedy The Big Store.
