Johnny Maestro, lead singer for The Crests and Brooklyn Bridge, was born on this day in 1939. "Worst That Could Happen" was written by Jimmy Webb and originally recorded by The Fifth Dimension for their 1967 album of Webb songs, The Magic Garden. It was released on Brooklyn Bridge’s eponymous 1968 album and as a single, and peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 and the RPM (Canada) Hot Singles charts in 1969.
This is a really good song that crescendos near the end and has the horns that just add that pop. I am surprised more people don’t sing this on one of these many shows out there like American Idol

They probably never heard it before…

Another song from my senior year. It was okay, but it never grabbed my attention that much. But I did hear it a lot back then.

I always liked it, I think because of the horns.

In concert he’d sing all his hits with the Crests as well as all his Brooklyn Bridge hits. This song was one of my favorites
