KRBE in Houston started out as, of all things, a classical music station in 1959, at a time when the FM technology was still plagued with stations fading in and out. It stayed a classical station until the late 1960’s, when it switched to Top 40. They’re now broadcasting a mix of Hot Adult Contemporary and Top 40. Here’s their survey from 44 years ago, May 9, 1978.
- Barry Manilow, “Can’t Smile Without You”
- Andrew Gold, “Thank You For Being A Friend”
- Chuck Mangione, “Feels So Good”
- John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, “You’re The One That I Want”
- Paul McCartney & Wings, “With A Little Luck”
- Yvonne Elliman, “If I Can’t Have You”
- The Bee Gees, “Night Fever”
- Heatwave, “Always And Forever”
- George Benson, “On Broadway”
- Bonnie Tyler, “It’s A Heartache”
And that’s Top Ten Tuesday for May 10, 2022.
What a 190 from classical to pop. I enjoyed listening to the music even this one from Chuck Mangione. I always like Bonnie Tyler

A great selection of blasts from the past!

Glad you like it! It’s from later in the ’70’s, which was still a good time for music.
