Al Ciner, guitarist with The American Breed, Rufus, and Three Dog Night, was born on this day in 1947. He was with Rufus (which grew out of The American Breed) for theit first hit record, "Tell Me Something Good" (1974). "Bend Me, Shape Me" was a cover of a song by The Outsiders in 1966. They recorded their cover in 1967 as the title track from their debut album, and reached #5 on the Hot 100, #7 in Canada, #3 in South Africa, and #1 in New Zealand.
That’s a great old song, John.

I’ll say it is. One of the great Chicago bands that ultimately became Rufus…

I grew up with this song and I got it on an album in 1985 with many other different songs. I remember Brown Eyed Girl and this one.
