
Singer Pervis Jackson of the Soul/R&B group The Spinners was born on this day in 1938. "I’ll Be Around" was the group’s first #1 single on the Soul chart, also reaching #3 in the Hot 100 in 1972. It was the B side to "How Could I Let You Get Away," which only reached #14 on the Soul chart and #77 on the Hot 100.
I always liked this song. I remember their funky outfits from the 70s

They used to turn up on “Soul Train” a lot. Fun fact: they’re called the Detroit Spinners in the UK because there’s a British band called The Spinners.
