Trombonist Jerry Hyman, who played with Blood Sweat & Tears on their second and third albums (1969’s Blood Sweat & Tears, 1970’s Blood Sweat & Tears 3), was born on this day in 1947. Jerry changed careers after leaving BS&T, becoming a chiropractor. "God Bless The Child," written by Billie Holiday and Arthur Herzog, was on their second album.
Yes! What a great group!

They’re still going with no original members. That’s perseverance…

They’re still going, despite the fact that none of the original members are still there. A few of them have joined the Eternal Jam Session.. . It’s possible that Jerry was already studying chiropractic when he joined BS&T (If I’ve done my calculations right, he was in his early 20’s when he was in the band), or maybe he left specifically to study it. Who knows?
