Dino Paul Crocetti, better known as singer Dean Martin, was born on this day in 1917. His weekly variety show was one of the highlights of my week in the ’70’s. "Return To Me" was written by Carmen Lombardo and Danny DiMinno and recorded by Dean in 1958. It reached #4 on Billboard‘s three charts (Top 100 Sides, Best Selling Pop Singles In Stores, Most Played by Disc Jockeys) that would eventually be combined to become the Hot 100, #5 in Canada, #1 in the Netherlands, and #2 in the UK. It was used as the theme song for the 2000 movie of the same name (a personal favorite), which starred Minnie Driver, David Duchovny, and Carroll O’Connor.
Song makes me cry because I think of my mom and dad. Love Dean

I think I fell in love with Minnie Driver (as an actress) because of that movie, and I was really surprised that David Duchovny was as good as he was.

I watched his show every week on Thursday night. He was the best! Sang as well as Sinatra and was a whole lot funnier.

That’s a beauty. Sinatra couldn’t do that one as well…
