Song of the Day: Dean Martin, “Return To Me”

Dino Paul Crocetti, better known as singer Dean Martin, was born on this day in 1917. His weekly variety show was one of the highlights of my week in the ’70’s. "Return To Me" was written by Carmen Lombardo and Danny DiMinno and recorded by Dean in 1958. It reached #4 on Billboard‘s three charts (Top 100 Sides, Best Selling Pop Singles In Stores, Most Played by Disc Jockeys) that would eventually be combined to become the Hot 100, #5 in Canada, #1 in the Netherlands, and #2 in the UK. It was used as the theme song for the 2000 movie of the same name (a personal favorite), which starred Minnie Driver, David Duchovny, and Carroll O’Connor.

    1. I think I fell in love with Minnie Driver (as an actress) because of that movie, and I was really surprised that David Duchovny was as good as he was.
