Song of the Day: James Darren, “Goodbye Cruel World”

James William Ercolani, better known as actor and singer James Darren, was born on this day in 1936. He was in such movies as Gidget (1959), The Gene Krupa Story (1959), The Guns of Navarrone (1961), and in the TV series The Time Tunnel (1966-1967). He was also promoted briefly as a pop singer, and recorded the song "Goodbye Cruel World" in 1961, during that period. It reached #3 on the Hot 100.

    1. This came out before I started listening to the radio. I don’t think I heard it until a few years ago. That’s really annoying, how they run some songs into the ground like that.
