Guitarist and composer Jim Fuller of the surf rock band The Surfaris was born on this day in 1947. Fuller was considered "The Godfather of Surf Guitar" and co-wrote the hit record "Wipe Out," a hit for the group in 1963.

I don’t think there was any local band of the latter sixties that didn’t play this song. It was everywhere from 1963 to 1968 or so.
