Singer, actor, and comedian Steve Lawrence was born Sidney Liebowitz on this day in 1935. Best known as part of a duet with his wife, the late Eydie Gormé, he had a few hit records in the late ’50’s and early ’60’s. "Pretty Blue Eyes" reached #9 on the Hot 100 in 1959.
He and his wife were quite popular but Steve more so. I remember him on the Carol Burnett Show

He’s a funny guy, and he and Eydie were a class act. Show business marriages don’t last very long as a rule, but they were married over 50 years when she died.

Nice song for back-in-the-day music.

He had a fantastic voice, and he was a funny guy, too. And his music with Eydie was tremendous.
