About the only prompt this week that I could do anything with is the first one…
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Usually, when this comes up, I say that I’d like to be able to time travel, and I’d still like to do that. For the sake of argument, though, I decided to pick another one.
Problem was, not being a person who deals with superpowers on a regular basis, I had no idea what my choices were. So, I found this list on the Superhero Database website. It seemed like a good place to start, so I went through and found a few superpowers that sounded interesting, and one in particular caught my eye…
SUBJECTIVE REALITY
The ability to manipulate the boundary between fantasy and reality. The user can induce reality to what is fiction, fantasy or imaginary, bringing them into existence, as well as turning facts, entities, and events into unreality, vanishing them as if they were a mere dream or illusion. By combining these two aspects, the user can remodel existing things to their liking, or replace them with something entirely new.
When these are used capabilities at full power, the border between fantasy and reality becomes so thin that it might not exist. The affected area is no longer bound to reality and instead becomes an extension of the user’s soul, a place where fantasy and reality are one and the same. In this impossible realm, unbounded by any rule, anything is possible, and things like “Heaven” and “Hell” are no longer just metaphysical concepts.
Does that sound cool, or what? I mean, I could be sitting there one minute in the living room playing with my computer, and the next minute living in Riverdale with Archie and the gang…
Or get all my blogging friends together and have a get-together in outer space…
Or go walking on the moon…
Or, how about…. You know how I’m always talking about my dreams, which happen in a combination hotel, shopping mall, and grocery store? I mean, this is the power to create my own reality! I can be anyone and do anything!

Whaddaya think?

Now that is a unique and awesome superpower! Add me to the blogger dinner reservations!

If I had a super power, I would love to teleport anywhere in the world and to take a friend with me. I could eat at a nice Cafe and visit museums.

I have A LOT of dreams that also seems to take place in a combination of those places. I wonder if that aspect of retail is somehow infused into you as a kid?

Gee. It seems to me that you are describing a super power that everyone has, already. It just a matter of how you choose to perceive things. That’s easy.
I’m an insomniac I would consider the power to sleep at will to far outweigh anything I’ve seen in a comic, yet most people take it, more or less, for granted.
As soon as you have a power it ceases to be super. But the power to breathe must be the highest of all powers. I treasure it.

Oh, absolutely… I can take myself on excursions to places that as far as I know don’t exist. I’m talking about doing it for real, though…

That’s the point. Everything IS how you perceive it. The ocean is blue only because you perceive it that way. If you perceive the ocean as Orange then it IS orange.
