Many thanks to Robin at Songbird’s Crazy World for being the guest conductor on this Monday music train (that, for some reason, has been leaving the station on Sunday for many of us). Today’s theme is Vacation, so here are ten songs that feature vacation destinations…
- The Fifth Dimension, “Up, Up, and Away”
- Chris Rea, “On The Beach”
- The Beach Boys, “Kokomo”
- Antonio Carlos Jobim, “Brazil”
- Bireli Lagrene, “Senegal”
- Jack Jones, “The Love Boat Theme”
- The Cowsills, “Indian Lake”
- Freddie Cannon, “Palisades Park”
- The Drifters, “Under The Boardwalk”
- Three Dog Night, “Out In The Country”
And that’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for July 25, 2022.
Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.
As always, a great playlist mixing music I knew and music new to me. For the new to me, I really liked “Senegal” Under the Boardwalk is a classic and I liked that you picked the “uncensored” version. I hadn’t heard Out in the Country in ages and I love that song so. Alana ramblinwitham

Glad you liked it! “Out In The Country” is one of my favorite 3DN songs. It was the one before “Joy To The World,” one of my least…
Bireli Lagrene, who did “Senegal,” was a Gypsy jazz guitarist who decided to do something different, and really got criticized for it, so it was the only album of its kind he did. Personally, I loved it. The album was “Foreign Affairs” from 1989, if you’re interested…

Wow, that takes me back. I’m 70 so those were hit songs when I was in my youth.
Have a fabulous day and week. 🙂

John,
I like your list of oldies. It was a pleasure to play these songs in the background while doing research for shoe insoles. My feet, legs, and back generally get sore after a long day on my feet. I want to be ready for our upcoming vacation. Thanks for joining the party, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

I wore orthotics in each shoe for a time, and they really helped…

Hi John – over here … I’m quite glad I’m not going anywhere … too many stuck in queues! But excellent to have a playlist while waiting in a queue … I’ll be back to listen properly soon – cheers and happy times – Hilary

Thanks! My rule is to share at least ten and try to mix them up genre-wise.

I love Amusement Parks and the old rides. I can still go on rides but not the roller coasters. Too scary for me. A.nice selection but I prefer the original orchestra version.i even heard the Love Boat theme which makes me want to see it again

If you get MeTV in Canada, Love Boat is on Sunday afternoons (check local listings). I assume you mean the show’s theme when you say “I prefer the orchestral version.”

Great playlist! I’m loving Indian Lake. And Palisades Park …I’m too young to remember when it was still open, but around here that place is legend.

That place was advertised in Superman comics. Sounded like a fun place….
